Sansome Walk is in the heart of Worcester City with the main train line running parallel to the site. This is a student accommodation development for 89 bed-sits with communal facilities for the University of Worcester, which aims to reinvigorate a declining part of the town.
A key aspiration of the project was not just to provide high quality living space for students, but also create a landmark building that would increase the profile of the University.
The modular building was clad with a mixture of materials including brick, render and curtain walling, with solar shading provided by louvers over large glazed areas. Whilst sitting well within its context, the contemporary design of the scheme provides a balanced contrast between the old and new.
The modular pods were imported from Holland, however in order to do this BM3 sent an Architect to Holland to ensure that the specification was in line with UK building regulations as the Dutch modular company had never worked within the UK.
