BM3 was initially involved in the early stages of the project, working closely with the client to establish the brief and also test the viability of the site. As the project progressed, BM3 built a strong relationship with the planning team through pre application discussions which lead to a successful planning permission being consented.

The site was formally used for industrial purposes, the factory/ warehouse buildings sat within a predominantly residential area and so a change of use was welcomed by the local residents. We did however carry out extensive engagement with the local residents to ensure that the new masterplan not only provided the much needed new housing, but also improved the area for all. This involved the creation of new public green space and new cycle and pedestrian links.

The appearance of the scheme was sympathetic to the surrounding context, picking up on existing materials and colour tones. The scale and massing also complimented that of the adjacent dwellings.
