The fourth phase at Colindale is located on the former home of the British Newspaper Library, just opposite the now completed former hospital site which includes phases two & three, for which BM3 also carried out the detailed design.
The scheme comprises 395 dwellings which include studio apartments, together with 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments. It also includes a substantial element of commercial space (7588 ft²) and community space (1216 ft²) which are located near to the main road and nearby tube station.
The public realm is defined by 6 buildings varying in scale with building heights of between 3 and 11 storeys. A simple palette of materials and considered detailing have been utilised to great effect throughout to provide high quality architecture in this up and coming part of North London. Alongside the detailed design which was carried out as one package of construction information, BM3 also acted as lead consultant which entailed the co-ordination of all the other consultants work to ensure all married together. This latest phase of development is yet another part of the continued regeneration programme, which has already transformed Colindale into a vibrant place where people want to live.
