We have gained planning permission for Student Accommodation in Selly Oak, Birmingham.
BM3 Architecture have worked with Markey Construction to design 48 new build student dwellings on the site of a former office block. The scheme is comprised of 13no. 1Bed Studio Flats and 35no. 1Bed Cluster Flats.
The 0.114ha site lies in a prominent roadside location (A38 Bristol Road) and has vehicular access onto Frederick Road via Gibbins Road. The area is mainly surrounded by semi-detached houses and is well serviced by local amenities, all within 1 mile of the site.
The development promotes contemporary sustainable living using modern methods of construction. The provision of amenity space parking, sunlight, privacy, meeting the needs of people with disabilities and considering the layout and orientation of the proposal were key design objectives throughout the design development stages.
The proposals are for a building with its own distinct character but still sensitive to its context and should be complete for Summer 2017.
