Cooks Lane, Tile Cross

We have submitted a planning application to Birmingham City Council for a residential development in Cooks Lane, Tile Cross.

Working with Westleigh Partnerships Ltd we have designed 46 contemporary and sustainable living homes comprising of 2 and 3 storey flats.

The 0.88 hectares site approximately 8.5 miles away from Birmingham City Centre was formally a garage and a petrol station, which has been already demolished. The area is surrounded by residential housing, the immediate surrounding built environment is two storey, and they display either brick or rendered facades and have predominant gabled roofs.

The scheme’s purpose is to enhance the local area by re-using the vacant site providing much needed affordable accommodation. Residents will benefit from good public transport links and be in close proximity to local amenities such as schools and shops.

Developing the application site will form a new street scene instead of an open disused site, which has the potential to harbour anti-social behaviour and fly tipping. The proposed homes have been designed to respect the surrounding context in terms of scale and materials.
