This special needs housing scheme for people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) provides an environment allowing residents the best level of privacy and independence whilst at the same time giving them the support and security they need.
8 individual flats are served from a central top-lit corridor space. Communal facilities include a lounge and rooms for support staff. Natural daylight in the corridor helps to prevent panic attacks caused by claustrophobia – a condition often experienced by people with autism.
Careful design and detailing addresses issues relating to the challenging behaviour that residents can sometimes present. Each and every item was specifically selected ensuring design and robustness was to a very high standard.
